Focus on ASME BPE fittings
Born in 1997, ASME BPE (American Society of Mechanical Engineers / Bioprocessing Equipment) is an American standard for the design of equipment used in the biotechnology, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
This standard is now recognised by some 30 countries worldwide and is widely used in Europe. It is regularly updated, with the latest version in 2019.
The objective is to guarantee the sanitary safety of the equipment, in particular by a design allowing sterilisation and cleaning, without any retention zone. In particular, the surface condition of the parts must be improved by polishing or electropolishing operations.
The ASME BPE standard also requires traceability of the parts, the use of certified material during machining, and constraints on packaging.
ASME BPE fittings, machined in our workshop in France, meet the most demanding criteria, from the manufacturing process to shipping.
-
Improved surface finish by mechanical or electrolytic polishing (see table)
-
Use of certified 316L stainless steel, with a controlled sulphur content between 0.005% and 0.017%.
-
Parts marked with casting number, dimensions, surface finish designation, and manufacturer's name
-
Parts individually packaged in plastic bags, labelled, and identified by coloured plugs
