Guillemin Symmetrical fittings 316
The Guillemin symmetrical fitting (also called fireman's fitting or DSP fitting) has been used in France since the 19th century, to connect two pipes, using a system comprising two half-fittings and a flat joint. In this type of fitting, there is no male/female differentiation, the two parts to be assembled are identical. The aim is to obtain a watertight, quick to assemble, and vibration resistant connection.
The Guillemin coupling is still used in fire fighting. It is also found in irrigation systems and fluid transfer in the chemical industry.
